Buhari’s Driver, 2 Other Staff Beg Nigerians For Forgiveness

Published

on

As the nation continues to mourn the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, some of his closest companions and longest-serving aides have issued an emotional plea to Nigerians to forgive any wrongs he may have committed during his decades of service to the country.

In a moving tribute at the late President’s Daura residence, Alhaji Ya’u Tsarki Bindiga, who served as Buhari’s personal driver for more than 46 years, broke down in tears as he reflected on the years he spent by Buhari’s side – from his early military career through to his time as Nigeria’s military Head of State and as a two-term civilian President.

“I have served him with loyalty, respect, and pride. He was more than a boss; he was like a father to me. His death has left a deep hole in my heart. I feel the same pain now as I did when I lost my father. Buhari was a good man who served this country with sincerity, even if he wasn’t perfect.”

Amadu Umar, a labourer who worked for the Buhari f ily for over 56 years, also spoke at the family home. Clad in a simple white kaftan, Umar said he had witnessed Buhari in private moments that revealed his humanity, humility, and faith.

“We lived with him, we ate with him, we saw him pray and cry. He treated us like his own people,” Umar said. “We have no grudge or bitterness. We only ask Nigerians to remember him in their prayers. May Allah forgive him, and may the country remember the sacrifices he made.”

Another senior domestic staff member, Mikailu Umae, who also served the family for over 56 years, spoke with a mixture of sorrow and uncertainty about what lies ahead for those whose lives were dedicated to Buhari’s household.

Their testimonies offer a rare window into the personal side of Muhammadu Buhari, a man known publicly for his austere discipline and uncompromising stance on corruption, but remembered in his private residence as a caring, faithful, and deeply committed figure who fostered loyalty among those around him.

The aides’ appeal for forgiveness is part of a broader atmosphere of reflection that has settled over Katsina State and Nigeria at large, as citizens recall the highs and lows of Buhari’s leadership over the years.

Sombre mood around Buhari’s home
Meanwhile, the condolence register has not yet been opened, but the atmosphere around the residence is already sombre. Family members of the late President have begun arriving in Daura, most of them dressed in black attire as a sign of mourning.

The Daura compound remains heavily guarded, with security operatives ensuring order as the town prepares to bid farewell to one of its most prominent sons.

Tinubu Meets Sultan Of Sokoto Amid Trump’s Threat

Published

on

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday held a closed-door meeting with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in what the Presidency described as part of ongoing high-level consultations to deepen national cohesion.

Naija News reports that the engagement came barely days after the President met with the Archbishop of Abuja, Bishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, signaling intensified outreach to moral, religious, and cultural leaders across the country.

Videos of the two meetings were posted on 𝕏 by the President’s Special Assistant on social media, who said the consultations were aimed at strengthening dialogue and rebuilding social trust at a delicate moment in Nigeria’s national life.

Presidency officials told The Nation that the engagements form a central plank of Tinubu’s efforts to consolidate peace, foster religious harmony, and address emerging tensions across the federation.

“These meetings are part of the President’s broad consultations with key moral and cultural leaders to enhance national integration and tackle social challenges,” one senior official said.

According to sources within the Villa, the meetings reflect Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places inclusivity, interfaith respect, and dialogue at the heart of governance. Officials said the administration views religious and traditional institutions as vital partners in sustaining national stability.

“Inclusivity and interfaith cooperation are core pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” a Presidency aide noted, adding that such engagements help strengthen unity at a time of global tension.

The President’s meetings come at a time Nigeria is under international watch following US President Donald Trump’s October 31 redesignation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern”.

Washington had claimed that more than 7,000 Christians were killed in the first seven months of 2025 in attacks linked to Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants, allegations that triggered diplomatic reactions.

The Federal Government has since dismissed the numbers and rejected the CPC label, insisting that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees freedom of worship and that the security crisis affects citizens of all faiths.

Officials described the genocide narrative as “a false and misleading account that does not reflect realities on the ground.”

“Happiness Isn’t About Money”: Davido’s Billionaire Dad Shares Heartfelt Advice With Newlyweds

A video of Davido’s billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, addressing his eldest son and wife at their traditional wedding has emerged online

The highlight of Davido’s father’s advice to the newly wedded couple was on happiness and money

Davido’s billionaire father’s opinion about happiness, however, didn’t go down well with many Nigerians as they reacted differently

Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido, recently made waves online following a heartfelt message he delivered at his son’s traditional wedding, stressing that true happiness in marriage was beyond financial wealth.

Recall that Davido’s eldest brother, Nicholas Adeleke, had his traditional wedding in Lagos, with prominent figures like billionaire Aliko Dangote, the Alaafin of Oyo, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and others in attendance.

Addressing the couple, Davido’s father stressed that while money and success were good, they were not the foundation of a happy home. He noted that many people who were not financially buoyant live happily, while some with “billions in the bank” remain miserable.

“It’s just God’s blessing. Once you have that in your family, you know you have a happy family,” he said. “Happiness is not about money. The most important thing is peace, happiness, and friendship in your home.”

He also advised the newlyweds to make prayer and support a daily practice.

The most important thing is that both of you must pray for each other every morning and every night,” he advised.

In related news, Legit also reported that Davido attended his eldest brother’s wedding alongside his first child, daughter Imade Adeleke. The video of Davido’s father addressing the newly wedded couple is below:

Why We Arrested Regina Daniels’ Brother — FCT Police

Published

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has provided an account of the circumstances that led to the arrest and arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, also known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, said officers received a petition on October 28, 20025 alleging several offences including criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft and cyber-bullying against Samuel and three others.

According to the police, several invitations were extended to Samuel by the Metro Area Command for questioning but were not honored.

“Upon receipt of the petition, several invitations were extended to Mr Samuel Ojeogwu by the Metro Area Command for questioning, which were not honored. Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos on the authority of a duly issued arrest warrant from a competent court, and subsequently conveyed to Abuja for further investigation,” the statement said.

SP Adeh said the investigations concluded with Samuel’s arraignment on Thursday, 6 November 2025, and that the court remanded him in prison pending fulfilment of his bail conditions.

“Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect was on November 6, 2025, charged to court for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, and theft. He has been remanded by the court pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions,” the release added.

Local media earlier reported that Regina Daniels had accused her husband’s camp of orchestrating her brother’s detention. In a social-media post, the actress described the situation and the family response: “Two concluded sworn enemies reuniting with no negative ulterior motive other than their daughter’s happiness. And I dare question God for putting me in this situation?”

She said her estranged parents had travelled to Abuja to seek her brother’s release and acknowledged her frustration at the length of his detention: “Sammy’s detainment is taking way too long, but we will get him out even if I have to march there myself and create a storm! Since they want me!”

The FCT Command reiterated its commitment to professional policing and due process as the matter proceeds through the courts.
