‘Baseless, Misleading’ – Tinubu’s Minister Denies Interference In Osun APC Primary Screening
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Bolaji Akinola, has sharply rebutted the claims made by Osun State governorship aspirant Senator Iyiola Omisore that Minister Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola interfered in the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) screening process.
Akinola issued a statement on Sunday, describing Omisore’s allegations as “baseless and misleading” and “totally false.”
Omisore’s accusations followed his disqualification and that of six other aspirants from the party’s primary scheduled for December 13, 2025.
Recall that Omisore had earlier on Saturday, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, criticised his disqualification from the party’s Osun governorship primary, calling the decision “a huge joke” and accusing the screening panel of being biased and engaging in procedural violations. He said they acted under pressure to disqualify aspirants in favor of a particular candidate.
Akinola, speaking on behalf of Minister Oyetola, firmly distanced the Minister from the controversial screening decisions:
He stated that Oyetola, who is a former Governor of Osun State, “had no role, whether direct or indirect, in the Screening Committee’s decisions” regarding the upcoming primary.
Akinola emphasized that the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Panel are independent organs of the APC, constitutionally empowered to function without external interference.
He maintained that Oyetola is committed to fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to party rules, principles he would never compromise.
The Special Adviser asserted that as a respected leader, Oyetola remains committed to internal democracy and urged all aspirants to use the party’s established internal mechanisms to channel their complaints, rather than resorting to public allegations.

PDP Leadership Bloc Throws Weight Behind New NWC, Turaki
Statutory organs and key leadership blocs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have thrown their weight behind the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), signaling a major consolidation effort following the party’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan.
The show of force and unity is being organized through a series of high-level solidarity meetings scheduled to hold in Abuja over the coming days.
In a statement signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan, the party structures mobilized include: PDP State Chairmen; National Assembly Caucuses (Senate and House of Representatives); National Ex-Officio members; Forums of former governors, ministers, and past NWC officials.
The party announced a schedule of strategic engagements aimed at stabilizing the party and charting a new course for the opposition movement.
The key meetings are slated as follows: the NWC will on Wednesday, meet separately with PDP state chairmen, members of the House of Representatives, and National Ex-Officio members. On December 16, former governors, former ministers, and former NWC members are expected to meet the new party leadership, while the Senate Caucus will hold its session with the NWC on December 17.
Shan stated that the meetings are crucial steps in “the consolidating efforts of the newly elected NWC to stabilize and chart a new course for the party flowing from the successful conduct of the just concluded 2025 elective National Convention of the party in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.”
During the Wednesday engagement, the NWC will also officially present the Certificate of Return to Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, affirming him as the party’s flag-bearer for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.
In a related development, the PDP has appointed a high-powered 24-member Osun State Governorship Appeal Panel to review all appeals arising from the state’s recently concluded primary election ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.
The panel will be chaired by the new National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, with Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja serving as Secretary.
The panel is scheduled to sit on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Bauchi Governors Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro, Abuja. The party explicitly mandated the panel to be “guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Guidelines for Party Primary and Electoral Act, 2022.”

A political insider Peter Ameh has provided insights into the ongoing speculation surrounding the potential switch of the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
During his appearance on the MIC ON PODCAST, Ameh assured listeners that Obi is committed to remaining with the LP for the time being.
He also highlighted an existing understanding regarding a future transition. “He knows the plan and will announce it when the time is right,”

Ameh elaborated that these discussions are part of a larger strategy to cultivate a more robust opposition coalition aimed at effectively challenging the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 elections.
He encouraged supporters to be patient and trust the process, emphasizing that any potential transition will be guided by thorough consultations and strategic planning. The focus will be on fostering national progress, unity, and credible leadership.

Ogun 2027: Iyabo Obasanjo Opens Up On Governorship Ambition
The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has opened up on rumors suggesting she would contest in the 2027 elections.
Recall that the Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had in November invited her to campaign under its platform in the upcoming elections. She had also appeared on some billboards endorsing her for the upcoming elections. One billboard read, “In Ogun State, we know ourselves. Senator (Prof) Iyabo Obasanjo. Omo wa ni, eniyan wa ni, ara wa ni.”
Reacting in an interview with Remo TV, Iyabo, a former Senator who represented the Ogun Central senatorial district between 2007 and 2011, noted that she was not actively campaigning for a seat in the 2027 elections despite requests from various groups.
She said: “There are some people who have worked with me in the past and have said this is who we like, we support this person. At first, I told them to stop because I was like I have a good life, I live in the US, I teach at the university and I have the life I want.”
The US-based professor, and epidemiologist said she was advised to let them be and not caution them.
She said: “Some people said they are not asking me for money or anything, and I should leave them alone. They just want my permission to do what they need to do, and everyone says it is a sign of love and a sign that you’ve done well. They also say that if you tell them to stop, it is like you are dampening their enthusiasm. So I let them go on.
“Nobody can say i am actively campaigning i have not done anything but they are moving on, i have given them permission to do whatever they feel they want to do and that is it.”
Obasanjo-Bello, a former Ogun State Commissioner for Health under the administration of former Governor Gbenga Daniel between 2003 and 2007, encouraged members of the public to perform well in whichever position they occupy.
”The reason people want me back is also what I am doing in teaching. I like having people do better. I guide them in their lives, and there are several people in Ogun State whom I have helped become who they are, and they appreciate it.
“For me, it is an example that people should do good. In politics or wherever you find yourself. Because if you do good, people will see it and they will come back and say we want you for something,” she added.
