“You Have Crossed The Rubicon”: Sowore Under Fire For Calling Tinubu Criminal
Some Nigerians on the social media platform Facebook have criticised opposition figure Omoyele Sowore
Sowore faulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s claim of alleged defeat of corruption, a longstanding Nigerian problem
However, Sowore’s use of “criminal” in his description of President Tinubu has caused anger in some quarters
Legit recalls that President Tinubu recently said his reforms have sounded the death knell on corruption in Nigeria.
Speaking to investors in Brazil on Tuesday, August 26, Tinubu said his reforms have made the Nigerian economy more competitive, boosted revenue, and strengthened the nation’s finances.
Tinubu said: “It is necessary to emphasise here that the reforms I’ve embarked upon since I took over in Nigeria have been very impactful.
“I can beat my chest for that. It was initially painful, but today the result is blossoming. It’s getting clearer to the people. We have more money for the economy — no more corruption.
“We have the central bank governor here; you don’t have to know him before you get the foreign exchange you need.
“The speculators are out in our currency market. The door is open for business. Easy in, easy out.”
Legit.ng reports that since taking office in May 2023, Tinubu has introduced a raft of economic policies that have elicited mixed reactions.
The president unified Nigeria’s multiple foreign exchange (FX) windows to enhance forex market stability. Tinubu also ended the petrol subsidy regime, which he described as unsustainable and a stranglehold on Nigeria’s economy.
Sowore disagrees with Tinubu
Reacting to President Tinubu’s claim in Brazil, Sowore, a critic of successive Nigerian governments, insisted that corruption is still a challenge in the country.
He wrote on his verified Facebook page, with an accompanying video of the president’s speech in Brazil:
“This criminal actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

Wicked, Unpatriotic! – Opposition Party Blast Tinubu As Trump Threatens War
The Labour Party (LP) has accused President Bola Tinubu of hypocrisy and denial over targeted attacks on Christians
The interim National Publicity Secretary, Tony Akeni, pointed out that while Goodluck Jonathan was President, Tinubu never hesitated to call him out over the killings perpetrated by Boko Haram.
He stated this during an interview with Punch while reacting to President Donald Trump’s public threat to use military force over the alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria
The U.S. President, in a fiery post on his Truth Social platform, declared that Nigeria had been designated a “Country of Particular Concern” and directed his Department of War to “prepare for possible action” if the killings continued.
Reacting, Akeni said, “Eleven years ago, before Bola Tinubu railroaded the system to declare him President, he tweeted in 2014 that the killing of Christian worshippers was condemnable and questioned Jonathan’s competence.
“At that time, about 11,000 Christians had been killed by Boko Haram in four years. Another 6,500 died between 2010 and 2015. Under Tinubu, that figure has skyrocketed to over 14,000 within two years, nearly double the PDP-era rate.”
Akeni described Tinubu’s dismissal of targeted Christian killings as “wicked, godless, and unpatriotic,” and commended Trump and other U.S. officials for their “courage and conviction.”
He also urged the U.S. to extend protection to liberal Muslim communities that have stood against extremism.
“They have shown that a united Nigeria, irrespective of religion or politics, is possible if we have good leaders,” he said.
President Tinubu, in a statement posted on X, rejected Trump’s classification of Nigeria as religiously intolerant, insisting that the country remains committed to constitutional guarantees of religious freedom.

Pastor Kumuyi Breaks Silence On Christian Genocide In Nigeria; Drops BOMBSHELL
Founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has reacted to the alleged Christian Genocide in Nigeria. This coming amid threat by the United States (US) President Donald Trump called Nigeria “that now disgraced country”
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has ordered the Defense Department to prepare for potential military action to completely “wipe out the Islamic terrorists” who are committing “horrible atrocities” against Christians in Nigeria if the government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”

Kumuyi dismissed reports of any ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria, calling such claims a Western propaganda tool aimed at destabilizing the country.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lagos, Kumuyi said that some foreign powers, including the United States, are using religion as a cover to interfere in Nigeria’s affairs and exploit its vast natural resources.
“There is no Christian genocide happening in Nigeria,” Kumuyi stated firmly. “These stories are being sponsored by people who want to divide our nation and give America an excuse to invade and take what belongs to us.”
The respected cleric challenged anyone making such claims to produce verifiable evidence of mass killings targeted at Christians in the country.
“Show me one Christian genocide happening in Nigeria,” he said. “If you can, I will step down as a pastor today.”
