2028 US Election: Trump Gives Major Update On Third-Term Presidential Run [ICYMI]
In a previous NBC News interview, when asked if he was joking about another run, he stated, “I am not joking,” and added, “There are methods which you could do it.”
U.S. President Donald Trump has addressed ongoing rumours about a possible third presidential bid in 2028, indicating that another run is unlikely.
Despite being constitutionally barred from serving a third term, Trump has often joked about returning to the presidency, sparking speculation among his supporters about a potential comeback.

In an interview with CNBC, Trump said, “No, probably not, probably not. I’d like to… I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had,” downplaying the chances of a future campaign.
Back in November, during a meeting with House Republicans, Trump revisited the idea humorously, saying, “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say, ‘He’s so good, we have to figure it out,’” a comment that reportedly drew laughter.
He also suggested that his 2024 run would be his last—unless lawmakers made changes.
The U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, passed in 1951 after FDR’s unprecedented four terms, limits any president to two elected terms. It also states that anyone who serves more than two years of another president’s term can only be elected once more. This rule effectively bars Trump from seeking office again after two terms.
Nevertheless, Trump has continued to stir debate with comments hinting at loopholes. In a previous NBC News interview, when asked if he was joking about another run, he stated, “I am not joking,” and added, “There are methods which you could do it.”
These remarks have alarmed critics, who argue they threaten democratic norms. Even Trump’s former Attorney General, Pam Bondi, made it clear during her Senate confirmation hearing that a third term is unconstitutional unless the law is changed.
While some of Trump’s loyal supporters remain enthusiastic about his potential return, legal experts insist a third term is not legally feasible under current constitutional provisions.

BREAKING: Nigerian Governor Dumps Deputy, Picks New Running Mate for 2027
The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has dumped his deputy, Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu, as his running mate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Naija News reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, on Sunday, declared Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as the new running mate to Governor Idris.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, disclosed the decision at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.
Suleiman revealed the party’s stand during a thank-you visit by stakeholders from the Argungu Emirate to the governor.
According to Suleiman, the party reached the decision based on professional legal advice on Arugungu’s eligibility as the governor’s running mate.
“The present Deputy Governor was dropped as the running mate to Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for the 2027 general election based on professional legal advice,” he said.
Suleiman further stated that the decision was reached with the understanding and consent of the current Deputy Governor of the state, adding that there was no disagreement between the governor and his deputy.
He called on politicians, APC members, and supporters across the state to accept the development and work together for the party’s success in the 2027 election.
Speaking with journalists after the event, Governor Nasir Idris also dismissed any suggestion of a disagreement between him and the outgoing deputy governor.
The governor assured party members and supporters that he would work with the new running mate and urged them to remain united and focused on the state’s development.

BREAKING: APC Makes Fresh Move Over Adeleke’s Victory
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has reacted to the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.
According to the APC, it is reviewing the governorship election won by Governor Ademola Adeleke the Accord Party (A), before deciding on its next course of action.
The party further stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ‘s decision to declare a winner does not mark the end of the electoral process, as aggrieved parties can challenge the outcome of an election.
APC, in a statement released on Sunday, through its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said its leadership was scrutinising the results from all wards and would consult its legal team before taking further steps.
The opposition party maintained that the electoral process extends beyond voting and declaration of results to the courts where necessary.
The statement read, “We are not unaware of the fact that election is a process which begins at the registration of the voters through the primary election to the election proper, which extends to the tribunal, the Appeal Court and terminates at the Supreme Court.
“An election cannot be said to have been concluded without having explored all these constitutionally allowed legal opportunities to enrich the nation’s jurisprudence as enshrined in the Electoral Act 2026 as amended.”
The opposition party further stated that, after consulting its lawyers, it would consider all options available under the Electoral Act.
It commended its members and supporters for their loyalty and urged them not to be discouraged by the outcome announced by INEC.
The party also appealed to its supporters across Osun State to remain peaceful and avoid responding to any form of provocation.
“As a result of the foregoing, we are imploring our ever loyal members and supporters to remain calm while they carry on with their businesses and refuse to respond to any provocative action or inaction from any of the members of the ruling party across the state,” it said.
The APC further assured its members that the party was still considering its options.
“It is necessary to assure our members and supporters to remain steadfast about the current situation and have it in mind that it is not over until it is over,” the statement added.
APC charged the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to protect its members and supporters, alleging that some of them were being harassed by members of the opposition
