Coup Plot: Inside Story Of How Nuhu Ribadu Escaped Death From Air Force Officer, Fresh Details Emerge

Published

on

Recent investigations have uncovered additional information regarding a coup plot, shedding light on various troubling details.

This alarming revelation raises serious concerns about the integrity of national security. It highlights the extent to which the plotters may have been willing to go in their efforts to destabilize the government.

According to sources knowledgeable about the ongoing inquiry into this alleged conspiracy, an air force officer who has recently been assigned to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) was allegedly tasked with the assassination of Nuhu Ribadu, the current National Security Adviser, according to TheCable.

The implications of these findings could be profound, potentially affecting both national security operations and the very fabric of governance in the country.

SB Adamu, a squadron leader with service no NAF/3481 from Jigawa state, was posted to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) — a programme coordinated by ONSA — four weeks before the alleged coup plot was botched.

Contrary to reports that many of the suspects were working with the ONSA, Adamu was the only one linked to the office through the NCTC.

The NCTC is one of the programmes coordinated by the ONSA.

Military sources told TheCable that when Adamu Garba Laka, a major general and national coordinator of NCTC, requested for a specific officer to be posted to the centre in August 2025, he was surprised that his request was not approved.

Instead, Adamu was posted to the office — and this is now fuelling speculation that the alleged coup plotters had infiltrated the military hierarchy.

Adamu was a member of regular course 59 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

President Bola Tinubu recently did a clear-out, sacking two of his services chiefs, including Hasan Abubakar, an air marshal.

The detailed squadron leader was allegedly detailed to “take out” Ribadu just as some other officers were tasked with killing other senior government officials, TheCable was informed.

He is said to be cooperating with investigators.

Military authorities are yet to officially confirm the coup plot.

Defence Headquarters (DHQ) insisted, in a press statement after Sahara Reporters broke the story, that the ongoing investigation of 16 officers is a “routine internal process aimed at ensuring [that] discipline and professionalism is maintained within the ranks”.

Tukur Gusau, a brigadier and director of defence information, said the findings of the investigation will be made public.

Media reports have continued to reveal the identities of those in detention after the story of the alleged coup plot.

US Senator Ted Cruz Hails Trump For ‘CPC’ Tag On Nigeria, Moves To Counter Blasphemy, Sharia Laws

Published

on

United States Senator Ted Cruz has unveiled new legislative measures aimed at curbing the enforcement of blasphemy and Sharia laws in Nigeria.

This comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged violations of religious freedom.

In a post on X on Friday, Cruz expressed satisfaction with Trump’s move, noting that he has long advocated for stronger action to address what he described as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

He described the designation as a significant step toward holding to account Nigerian officials who, he said, have enabled or tolerated violence and discrimination based on religion.

The senator explained that his proposed legislation would strengthen Washington’s position by imposing consequences on individuals responsible for enforcing blasphemy and Sharia-related restrictions.

He added that he intends to collaborate with the U.S. administration and members of Congress to advance the bill and ensure its full implementation.

“I am deeply gratified to President Trump for making this determination. I have fought for years to counter the slaughter and persecution of Christians in Nigeria, and this year introduced legislation that will lock in the designation made today,” Cruz said.

“Today’s designation is a critical step in holding accountable and changing the behaviour of Nigerian officials who have facilitated and created an environment conducive to the outrages in Nigeria.

“My legislation implements additional steps, including targeting those who implement blasphemy and Sharia laws in Nigeria, and I am committed to working with the administration and my colleagues to advance my bill and implement these necessary measures.

“Today’s decision by President Trump is a great one, and I thank him for his strong leadership.”

‘Govt Romances Terrorists In Full Glare Of The Public’ – Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Ejimakor

Published

Special Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has reacted to the United States President, Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ following reports of alleged Christian genocide in the country.

Naija News reports that Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, claimed that “radical Islamists” were responsible for widespread killings of Christians across Nigeria.

He subsequently designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” saying the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening.”

In a post via his X handle, Ejimakor said designating Nigeria as CPC was inevitable because the government allegedly teargassed peaceful protesters but romanced terrorists publicly.

He wrote, “The aftermaths of taking 2 direct teargas hits for expressing my legal right to peaceable assembly.

“When a nation tear-gasses peaceful protesters but romances terrorists in full glare of the public, being slammed as a Country of Particular Concern becomes inevitable. #FreeMNK.”

Recall that Ejimakor and a few others were recently arrested by the police in Abuja over the free Nnamdi Kanu protest.

The protest convened by activist politician, Omoyele Sowore, was meant to be staged at the presidential Villa, where protesters will demand Kanu’s release from President Bola Tinubu.

Following their arrest, Ejimakor, Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, Sowore and others were arraigned before a Kuje Magistrate Court and remanded in prison.

In the process of moving them, Ejimakor and the other protesters were said to have been punished with teargas shot at them.

While in remand, Ejimakor collapsed but was promptly attended to by the medical team in Kuje prison

Governor Mutfwang’s Senior Aide Finally Speaks On Defection Rumours

Published

on

Hon. Istifanus Mwansat has reacted to rumors suggesting Governor Caleb Mutfwang is preparing to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mwansat, a former Speaker of the Plateau Assembly and now Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters and Special Duties, dismissed the speculation, calling it unnecessary and misleading.

Speaking in an interview, he addressed the recent wave of defections rocking the PDP and the pressure on top party figures across the country.

According to him, political movement is driven largely by fear, ambition, and the belief that “if they remain outside the ruling party, their chances of being counted politically are slim.”

He insisted that many politicians are running to the ruling party for survival rather than ideology, describing it as a “safe haven” for those hoping their “sins will be forgiven.”

Mwansat also expressed concern over the country’s political culture, saying hunger and poverty have weakened democratic values and shifted voter decision-making to “the depth of the contestant’s pocket.”

On whether defections could weaken the PDP ahead of 2027, he maintained that the party still has solid structures at the grassroots and will “bounce back and put up a strong fight” in the next general election.

When asked about claims that Nigerian politics lacks solid ideology, he agreed, stating that party-switching has become too common, especially among lawmakers who “violate the same laws they make.”

Responding to repeated claims that Governor Mutfwang may join the APC, Mwansat insisted the governor has made his position clear.

The Aide noted that Mutfwang has repeatedly said he is not leaving the PDP, stressing that his political direction is guided by God and the people of Plateau.

The governor has consistently re-emphasized that he is not moving and will not move… the governor is not moving,” he said.

He also reacted to reports that some APC members had already rejected Mutfwang, describing such statements as empty politics.

According to him, the governor never indicated interest in joining the APC for anyone to “reject” him.

Mwansat said the APC in Plateau is only trying to push a narrative to create confusion, adding that if Mutfwang ever wished to defect, “reasonable APC members would be excited.”

Commenting on internal party grievances, he acknowledged some PDP members are unhappy but urged patience, noting that the governor is carrying a heavy burden as the only elected PDP official left standing in the state after court rulings overturned earlier victories.

He added that politics is dynamic, and while some individuals leave, others are returning silently. The senior special adviser to the governor noted that two former APC lawmakers recently held talks to rejoin the PDP.

On the relationship between the State Assembly and the governor, he described it as cordial, saying both sides are focused on “the Plateau project” rather than partisan rivalry.
