2027 Coalition: ADC Begins Nationwide Consultation

The African Democratic Congress has started a nationwide convergence to engage state chapters and other stakeholders as part of efforts to build a coalition to oppose President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, told journalists on Wednesday in Abuja that this initiative aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots support and enhance coalition unity ahead of the general elections.
On March 20 in Abuja, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and others revealed a coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The announcement sparked widespread debate about the possibility of opposition unity, with political experts and stakeholders sharing varied opinions.
In the following weeks, media reports identified the African Democratic Congress as one of the main platforms for the coalition.
Nwosu announced that the coalition partners’ state-wide convergence under the ADC platform is planned to take place in all 36 states of the federation from Monday to Saturday during the first week of June 2025.
He stated, “The convergence, which will take place in each state capital, follows a resolution of the National Executive Committee and is backed by the National Working Committee. It will bring together political parties, civil society organizations, labour unions, and well-meaning patriots who have consistently demonstrated interest in joining forces with ADC’s coalition framework.
“The idea is to take the vision, mission, and rescue agenda of ADC and its partners to the people, where it truly belongs. It is no longer a project centered in Abuja. The time has come for Nigerians to own this mission.
“This coalition is not top-down. Every member, from national to ward level, should now be fully adjusted to the tradition that ADC is co-owned by the coalition. This is a shared journey.”
He urged members to embody ADC’s principles of openness, compassion, and solidarity in both leadership and daily actions.
Nwosu stated that the convergence seeks to align leadership and messaging at the national, regional, and local levels.
He stated, “We are developing a framework for bottom-up communication, ensuring our message resonates deeply with every Nigerian, regardless of geography.
“The program also introduces a new paradigm: resource development and mobilization from the grassroots up. According to party insiders, this structure is designed to foster equitable access to tools and platforms that will empower citizens at every level.
“These state-level activities are expected to run concurrently across all regions from May 29 to June 6, 2025. The decision to activate these state-wide meetings was finalized during an emergency session held at the ADC’s Global Campus National Headquarters in Abuja. During the meeting, Chief Nwosu passionately reiterated the urgency of the national crisis and the need for collective political action.
“There is an urgent need to rescue Nigeria from the grips of nepotism, hunger, impunity, corruption, insecurity, insurgency, and poor governance. We cannot afford to treat this as business as usual. This is a national emergency.
“This movement must embrace Nigerians from all walks of life, those within and outside political systems. The problems we face are bigger than any single party. We must unite as one coalition of conscience.”

In a public statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele elaborated on the challenges these governors may face in their quest for re-election, indicating that without sincere efforts and dedication, their ambitions for a second term might be hindered.

2027 Election: Presidency Speaks On What Would Happen If Jonathan Decides To Run Against Tinubu [VIDEO]

Special adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on policy communication, Daniel Bwala, ruled out the possibility of any political figure, including for- mer President Goodluck Jonathan, defeating Tinubu the 2027 election
Bwala, who was a guest on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’, was asked if there is a need to worry over the recent clamour for Jonathan to run for of- fice in 2027
Some political stakeholders have claimed that Jonathan would be one of the leading candidates to confront incumbent President Tinubu in the 2027 general election
dailyvoice.ng reports that rumours swirled in Nigeria over a possible 2027 presidential run by ex-leader Goodluck Jonathan.
Bwala’s video can be watched here
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday night, August 12 nonitored by Legit.ng, Bwala spoke on if a Jonathan comeback bid could rattle President Tinubu
Recently, former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, threw his weight behind Jonathan as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) strongest option or the 2027 presidential election.
This is as he urged the party to “woo” him back into its fold.
Reacting to the CaMS for Jonathan to contest against Tinubu, Bwala said:
“I see that some unscrupulous elements are trying to hoodwink former President Goodluck Jonathan to come into politics so that they can destroy his reputation, which after he left government he has been building by becoming an international figure globally.”
Bwala explained that Tinubu has ‘captured”the, south south geopolitical zone where Jonathan comes from.
He continued: “The elements that are going to him in the north, asking him to run, where they not the ones that chased him away? So, what hope does he have that this time around, they are calling him because they mean well for him?
“Then, look at the political class that are coming to- gether to cajole him to come into politics. I know former President Goodluck Jonathan is smarter than that. But if former President Jonathan decides to run, let me tell you, I have seen the political cli- mate in Nigeria today, andt will speak to facts, not conjectures, there is not a single politician that has the capacity to knock off President Bola Tinubu – in all fronts.”
