Wanting Marriage Is Not Desperation – Bella Opens Up On Breakup With Sheggz

Published

Big Brother Naija reality TV star Bella Okagbue has addressed the controversy surrounding the end of her relationship with fellow reality star Sheggz.

Daily Voice  reports that Bella spoke on the situation through her Instagram story after seeing different accounts of what allegedly happened between her and Sheggz being shared across social media.

She explained that she had deliberately stayed quiet because she considered some parts of the relationship private and did not want to make them public.

The reality star said her decision to remain silent should not be taken as an admission of wrongdoing.

She maintained that she was sincere about her feelings throughout the relationship and had defended it because she genuinely believed in what they shared.

“For the past few days, I have watched people tell my story for me. I stayed silent because I believed some things deserved to remain private, but my silence should never be mistaken for guilt. I loved genuinely. I defended the relationship because I believed in it at the time, and I chose to give someone I loved a second chance because I believe people can grow and change.

“On marriage and the ring, let me be clear: wanting marriage with someone you love is not desperation. Knowing when not to marry them is discernment. Sometimes, it takes more courage to walk away than to stay. A ring doesn’t fix what made a relationship impossible. A hundred promises. Not one fulfilled”, she wrote.

What I Do When A Child Calls Me By Name – Shaffy Bello

Published

Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared her thoughts on the viral exchange between UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu and a young woman who addressed him as “Tony” during a recent event.

The thespian submitted that she does not appreciate being referred to as Shaffy by people she is older than.

She argued that it is only fair for younger people to use titles when referring to their elders.

Daily Voice reports that the veteran spoke about her own experiences in a recent podcast.

When a child calls me by my name, Shaffy, I pull them closer and tell them, ‘You haven’t earned the right, and you never will,’” she said.

The actress explained that having children around the same age as those addressing her makes the practice particularly uncomfortable for her.

Whatever happened to Ma’am?” she asked, noting that she finds the casual greeting “Hi” equally irritating.

There is even something about this ‘Hi’; I can’t stand it,” Bello said.

She attributed some of the differences in how people address older adults to upbringing and culture, pointing to practices in different parts of Nigeria and the United States.

According to Bello, even children in the United States use respectful titles when addressing older people.

“Even children in the U.S. call me ‘Ma,’” she said, stressing that respect for elders remains important to her.
