How SGF Requested Office Space For ‘Fake Agency’
Official documents exclusively obtained by Saturday PUNCH have cast fresh doubt on the Presidency’s insistence that the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council never existed.
The documents reveal that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation received, acknowledged and acted on correspondence submitted in the council’s name months before the Presidency publicly disowned it.
Specifically, the SGF’s office formally processed and forwarded a request by the council’s self-styled Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, seeking office accommodation from recovered Federal Government properties through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The correspondence, dated November 21, 2024, was signed by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, on behalf of the SGF.
Attached to it was Adeyemi’s November 7, 2024, request for office accommodation for the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Registry stamps show the letter was received by the SGF’s office on November 12 before it was forwarded to the anti-graft agency nine days later.
The forwarding letter, titled “Request for Office Accommodation,” informed the EFCC that three government institutions had applied for office accommodation from recovered Federal Government properties.

Ganduje Breaks Silence On Dumping APC
Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed viral posters alleging that he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that he remains committed to the party.
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, said he is not a nomadic politician or a vulture “flying from one tree to another” in pursuit of personal ambition or political convenience.
In a statement issued by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje described the posters circulating on social media as a calculated campaign of misinformation aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC members and generating unnecessary political speculation.
He maintained that he has remained consistent in his political convictions and has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he once served as national chairman.
Ganduje said it was false and illogical for anyone to suggest that he had joined the NDC, stressing that such claims lacked political and logical basis.
The former national chairman of the APC stated that the ruling party remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political platform, enjoying growing acceptance across the country under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He described the circulation of the posters as the handiwork of desperate political mischief makers bent on tarnishing his reputation and creating anxiety within the party.
Ganduje disclosed that those responsible for producing and circulating the posters had been identified, warning that legal action would be taken against them if they fail to withdraw the materials and desist from further dissemination.
He urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting that they do not reflect his political position or intentions.
Ganduje reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the APC leadership to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.
He also urged the public to rely only on official communications from him and the appropriate organs of the APC on matters relating to his political activities.

2027 Polls: Ebonyi NDC Dismisses Claim Of Backing PDP Candidate, Odii
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Ebonyi State chapter, has said it was not part of the purported claim of backing the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Ifeanyi Odii.
The party stated that the purported endorsement was allegedly being master-minded by sacked officials of the NDC in the state.
Speaking to newsmen on Friday, in Abakaliki, the chairman of NDC in Ebonyi State, Hon. Enyinnaya Udensi Alum, said the party had no intention to endorse any politician other than its gubernatorial candidate.
He called on all NDC faithful in the state and supporters to steer clear from the purported endorsement, adding that the move was antithetical to the tenets and principles of the party.
He said, “Information reaching me, Hon. Prince Alum Enyinnaya Udensi, the Ebonyi State Chairman of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is that a few former members of the party, who were sacked over financial impropriety and anti-party activities are purportedly going to endorse one of the factional governorship candidates of the PDP on behalf of the NDC tomorrow or soon after.
“Ebonyians, NDC members and other teaming supporters of the NDC in the state should note that the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State has its governorship candidate, and that the party has not and will at no time endorse any other candidate of any party other than the NDC governorship candidate.
“NDC members are hereby requested not to attend any such gathering as it amounts to anti-party activities, while the general public is asked to desist from dealing with the above named individuals as they are no longer NDC members and do not represent the Nigeria Democratic Congress.”

Atiku, Obi,Tinubu: Fubara Spits Fire, Mentions Which Candidate is Best to Transform Nigeria
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that Nigeria’s path to development depends on placing God-fearing individuals in positions of authority, warning that a leadership vacuum rooted in moral failure is responsible for the country’s current challenges.
Fubara made the remarks on Thursday, July 2, during a courtesy visit by the World President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Erton Kohler, accompanied by his wife, Andriene Marques Kohler, their daughter, Mariana Marques Kohler, and other senior church leaders at Government House in Port Harcourt.
The governor commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its sustained investment in education, noting that the church currently operates two universities in Nigeria and has consistently used its institutions to develop future leaders.
He argued that religion must move beyond defending doctrine and translate into tangible societal impact, saying the church’s educational work exemplifies this.
“Our country is where it is today because we lack the fear of God. If you have the fear of God, there should be a limit to what you can do because you understand the supremacy of God. But when God is not in your equation, you’ll go beyond the line, and that is what has brought us to where we are today,” Fubara said.
He further linked the absence of moral leadership to poverty, corruption, criminality and widening inequality, stressing the need for a society where workers can afford quality healthcare, educate their children, and secure shelter after years of honest labour.
“If we have a situation where the little money you’re paid as wages can also afford you quality healthcare and after working for at least 15 to 20 years you have a roof over your head, tell me why you should be involved in any kind of crime?
At that point, you’ll feel secure, and this attitude of insecurity about the future that leads to many of the social vices we have today won’t be there,” the governor added.
Fubara thanked the delegation for their visit and prayers, pledging continued support for the church’s programmes in Rivers State.
