BREAKING: Adeleke Wins as INEC Announces Final Results
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, of the Accord Party, has won 19 Local Government Areas out of the 30 in the state, while his close rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, clinched 11 LGs in the Saturday governorship election.
Adeleke is awaiting the official declaration from the Independent National Electoral Commission following the collation and announcement of results on Sunday.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, was on Sunday declared elected, having won 19 out of the 30 local government areas in the governorship election held across the state on Saturday.
The State Returning Officer, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, declared the result of the poll at about 7:24 am on Sunday.
Adeleke polled a total of 511067 votes to emerge victorious in the contest.
Ogunwole subsequently returned the governor to office for another term.
The incumbent Osun governor, who contested the poll on the platform of the Accord, defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who won in 11 LG areas of the state.
While Adeleke won in Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ayedire local government areas.
Oyebamiji, however, won in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun local government areas.
Declaring the results, Ogunwole said, “Accredited voters, 1010684, total votes received by political parties, A, 511067, AA, 2308, AAC, 1458, ADC, 17180, ADP, 2946, APC, 444815, APGA, 1475, APM, 234, APP, 114, BP, 111, NNPP, 118, PRP, 83, SDP, 155, YPP, 534, ZLP, 2482, total valid votes, 985079, rejected votes, 207, total vote cast, 1,005,800.”
After agents of the political parties have signed the results of the election, the Returning Officer declared Adeleke of the Accord as the winner of the poll.
“That Ademola Nurudeen-Jackson Adeleke having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declare the winner of the August 15 Governorship election and returned elected,” Ogunwole said.
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the poll, Najeem Salaam, came third in the poll.
Governor Ademola Adeleke is leading in the ongoing Osun State governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission continues to upload results from polling units and local government areas.
According to results available from 24 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, the Accord Party candidate has secured 16 LGAs, while the All Progressives Congress has won eight.
Adeleke is currently ahead with 347,730 votes, while the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has polled 283,653 votes. The African Democratic Congress is in third position with 13,143 votes.
The figures remain subject to the completion of the collation process, as results from six LGAs are yet to be fully reflected in the available figures.
INEC is expected to continue the collation and verification of results before making the final declaration. The process is being closely watched by political parties, observers and residents across the state.
The final outcome will be determined after all results have been collated and any necessary verification completed. The declaration is expected later on Saturday or in the early hours of Sunday.
With Adeleke currently holding a lead over his closest challenger, attention remains focused on the outstanding LGAs and whether their results will significantly alter the standings.
The election has generated considerable interest across Osun, with supporters of the participating parties awaiting the official announcement from INEC.
Until the final declaration is made, the figures being reported remain provisional and the commission’s official result will determine the winner of the governorship election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has emerged as the leading candidate in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, according to the latest results displayed by the Smart ElectionGuard Pro results platform.
As of the latest update at 9:45pm on Saturday, results from 3,265 of the 3,763 expected polling units had been reported and verified, with 746 polling units still pending.
The platform put Adeleke’s lead margin over Oyebamiji at 51,411 votes, while accredited voters were listed at 767,473.
The result comes amid ongoing collation of results across Osun State. Earlier reports had also shown Adeleke taking an early lead as results were being collated.
However, the figures displayed in the screenshot are platform-reported results and should not be treated as an official declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The platform itself carries a disclaimer stating that the results are not an official INEC declaration.
INEC had commenced uploading polling-unit results to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV) as the collation process continued across the state.
