Even If Kwankwaso Chooses a Dog, It Will Defeat Gov Yusuf — Kwankwasiyya Declares
The Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano State has sent a strong warning to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, declaring that the political influence of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso remains untouchable. In a bold assertion, a high-ranking official of the movement claimed that any candidate endorsed by the national leader would resoundingly defeat the incumbent governor in any future contest.
Saddam Sani Umar, the Welfare Officer of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano, made these remarks as the state grapples with intense political realignment. The tension follows persistent reports and movements suggesting that Governor Yusuf is finalizing plans to defect from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Umar dismissed the idea that the movement would lose its grip on Kano politics if the governor departs. He pointed to the deep-rooted loyalty of the grassroots, emphasizing that the people follow the leader, not the office. According to him, “Whoever Kwankwaso chooses, the people will turn out massively to vote for them. In Kano, if Kwankwaso chooses a dog, the people will vote for it because they trust him as a leader who stands by his people.”
The welfare officer reminded the public of the governor’s political history, noting that Yusuf’s rise was entirely engineered by Kwankwaso.
He highlighted that the governor had spent over three decades as Kwankwaso’s personal assistant before serving as a commissioner and eventually being handpicked for the state’s top job.
Moreover, Umar described any attempt to challenge Kwankwaso’s influence as “myopic,” warning that past leaders who tried to betray the movement faced political ruin.
He specifically referenced the fallout between Kwankwaso and former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, asserting that history repeats itself for those who show disloyalty.

“Betraying Kwankwaso does not end well; history proves it,” Umar stated, adding that the Kwankwasiyya ideology is larger than any individual.
The official further noted that the movement’s identity, symbolized by the iconic red cap, remains a shield for many politicians in the state.
However, he argued that even those contemplating a move to the APC are afraid to discard the symbol, as “the moment they take that cap off, they lose their political safety.”
While Governor Yusuf has reportedly been under pressure to defect to secure his 2027 ambitions, many of his key cabinet members and the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, have recently reaffirmed their total allegiance to Kwankwaso.
Umar concluded by stating that the movement remains unshakeable and that its core supporters value loyalty over government patronage.

‘You Will Hear Full Details Today’ – Wike Speaks On Clash With APC Govs
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said opposition to his proposed Rainbow Coalition by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is not primarily about concerns that the group could weaken the All Progressives Congress (APC).Nigeria Market Research
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the statement on Monday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister said he would provide further details about the disagreements during a television appearance later in the day.
Responding to suggestions that the coalition was being used to position him for the 2031 presidential election, Wike said it was too early to speculate about future political contests.
He also suggested that the question of who would succeed President Bola Tinubu could be contributing to the current political tension.
Wike said, “People take the position of God. First of all, you have to pray that you are alive. You must ask God, ‘Keep me alive till tomorrow. God, keep me alive till the next day.’ When God keeps you alive, then you now know what to do. How can you sit now and start planning for 2030, 31?.
“So, God is the one who says what will be. If one is alive, then you begin to see what we will do. In any case, what is wrong with assuming that I am positioning myself? But that is not correct. But you will hear the full details today about all these cries about the Rainbow Coalition.”

He said Tinubu, as a sitting President who would not be eligible to seek another term in 2031, would naturally have an interest in succession.
“I have always said, mind you, too, that by 2031, as a sitting president, he will not be running. So, the president must also have interest on who will succeed him. And will I be at loggerheads with what the president is talking about? But people don’t understand. They are just afraid of their shadows, not me,” Wike said.
Wike also referred to his participation in the 2022 PDP presidential primary, where he finished second behind former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

We recalls that in February, Atiku and Aisha, the wife of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, first met in Saudi Arabia.
Atiku disclosed the visit in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, describing the meeting with the former First Lady as “warm and deeply appreciated”.
The former Vice-President said the visit also highlighted the need for those seeking a better Nigeria to prioritise the welfare and future of Nigerians.

Atiku wrote, “Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated.”

He said families across the country were facing increasing pressure from the rising cost of essential goods and services, including food, transportation, education and healthcare.
He added, “Beyond the courtesies of the occasion, it was also a reminder of the urgent responsibility before all who seek a better Nigeria: to put the welfare, dignity and future of our people first.”
Atiku said Nigerians deserved an economy that would provide opportunities and enable families to live with dignity and hope.
He wrote, “Across our country, families are being stretched by the rising cost of food, transport, education, healthcare and other basic necessities. Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunity and allows every family to live with dignity and hope.”
