Cristiano Ronaldo Finally Wins Saudi Pro League With Al-Nassr

Published

on

Al Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has finally won the Saudi Pro League title.

They were confirmed champions on Thursday, thanks to a 4-2 win over relegation battlers Damac.

The title race had gone down to the final day after Al-Nassr dramatically dropped points against Al-Hilal the previous week.

Jorge Jesus’ side knew there could be no mistakes against a Damac side fighting for survival at the other end of the table.

Ronaldo was on the scoresheet, as his brace helped Al Nassr secure the title ahead of rivals Al Hilal.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the first half, before second half goals by Kingsley Coman and Ronaldo’s double sealed the victory.

Afrobeats star Rema has teamed up with South Korean pop act LISA and Brazilian singer Anitta on Goals, the latest single off the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album.

The track was released on Thursday via SALXCO UAM and Def Jam Recordings on all major streaming platforms, accompanied by an official music video.

Produced by Grammy-winning producer Cirkut, the song draws from Afrobeats, K-pop and Latin pop.

FIFA, in a statement, described the album as a unifying platform where music and sport intersect, connecting fans, communities and sounds from around the world.

As the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Album continues to unfold, it brings together voices from across continents and genres, reflecting the scale and reach of the tournament.

“The project mirrors the vibrancy and breadth of the global game, serving as a unifying platform where music and sport intersect – connecting fans, communities, and sounds from around the world,” the world football governing body said.

Reacting to the collaboration, Rema described the record as a landmark moment for music on the world stage.

“Three continents, one track…bringing all our sounds together like this is a big moment for music on the world stage,” he said.

LISA also said participating in the Official FIFA World Cup Album had been an exciting experience.

“Being a part of the Official FIFA World Cup Album this year has been so exciting. Music always unites people across the world, so it has been an honour to work with Anitta and Rema,” she said.

Anitta linked her involvement to a deeply personal connection with the tournament.

“My connection to the World Cup is deeply emotional. I’m Brazilian, after all, of course I have wonderful memories tied to the tournament.

“It’s incredibly special to now contribute to its history, collaborating with LISA and Rema on Goals! I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” she said.

The trio will perform Goals live for the first time at the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony at Los Angeles Stadium on June 12, ahead of the United States’ opening match.

Goals is the fifth release off the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album, following Lighter, Por Ella, Echo and Illuminate.

The tournament opens on June 12 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Celtic Must Move On From Iheanacho — Petrov

Published

on

Stiliyan Petrov believes Celtic should explore other options this summer despite Kelechi Iheanacho’s key role in the club’s title-winning campaign.

Iheanacho joined the Hoops on a free transfer last summer after severing ties with Spanish outfit Sevilla.

The 29-year-old striker won over the Celtic faithful with a string of crucial goals during the title run-in, netting decisive winners against Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell as Celtic staged a stunning comeback to clinch the Premiership crown.

Although the striker struggled to fully convince manager Martin O’Neill about his fitness throughout the campaign, the forward still made a significant impact off the bench at crucial stages of the title race.

The Nigeria international’s current one-year deal is due to expire at the end of the season, although Celtic hold the option to extend it by an additional 12 months.

Petrov Against New Deal For Iheanacho

However, Petrov believes Celtic should prioritise signing a younger, long-term option to lead the attack instead.

Speaking on The Scottish Football Social Club, Petrov said: “Sorry, no. You need a striker who can compete all season, who is fit all season, who is ready, who is mobile.

“You know what? He (Iheanacho) done so well. For me, with what Celtic stands for, they have to go for something different. Something more powerful.

“That’s the way it is, unfortunately, at a big club. I don’t think Iheanacho is the answer for the club.”

Aston Villa Win Europa League To End 45-Year Wait For European Trophy

Published

Nine of that team from 1982 were at Besiktas Park in Istanbul to watch Unai Emery win his fifth Europa League.

Emery replaced Steven Gerrard in November 2022 with Villa three points above the relegation zone and has transformed them into top five contenders and, now, a European champion.

Villa supporter Prince William celebrated at the final whistle as Villa won major silverware for the first time since the 1996 League Cup.

Noah Atubolu kept an early Morgan Rogers drive out and Nicolas Hofler – in his final game before retirement – fired wide, but then Villa took over.

Tielemans – who scored the winner for Leicester in the 2021 FA Cup final – brilliantly volleyed in to cap a short corner routine four minutes before the break.

Buendia added a stunning second in first-half stoppage time, curling beyond Atubolu from 18-yards to leave Bundesliga side Freiburg with no way back.

Rogers added a third just before the hour, poking in Buendia’s near-post cross, to underline Villa’s superiority.

Amadou Onana hit the post and Buendia should have netted a fourth but, by then, Villa had already sealed victory.
