World Cup 2026: Iwobi Backs England To Win Title
Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi believes England can emerge champions at FIFA World Cup 2026, Completesports.com reports.
The Three Lions are targeting a second FIFA World Cup title at the 2026 tournament in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
England’s only World Cup triumph came on home soil in 1966.
Thomas Tuchel’s men kicked off their campaign in impressive fashion with a 4-2 victory over Croatia.
Iwobi Rooting For England
Iwobi believed the European giants have what it takes to go all the way, and lift the trophy.
“I personally believe England have a great chance of winning the World Cup,” Iwobi told Sky Sports Football.
“They’ve got so many stars in the team and so much ability. Even the players who are not starting can come off the bench and hurt the opposition.
“So, I’ll say England, but I also believe France are strong contenders. The attacking threat that France have is scary, but I actually hope England wins it.”
The Three Lions will face Black Stars of Ghana in their next game at the Gillette Stadium on Tuesday night.

Haaland Cools Norway’s World Cup 2026 Expectations
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has advised fans to temper expectations regarding Norway’s chances of winning the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Despite securing their first tournament qualification in 28 years and advancing to the knockout stages, the striker maintains that reaching the latter rounds alone is a massive achievement. Speaking after his sensational brace in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Senegal, the Manchester City and Norway talisman offered a pragmatic assessment of their global campaign.
“To qualify for the first time in 28 years and go through the group stage I would say, yes (is a good World Cup). To win the World Cup, absolutely not.
“I think we should be realistic here and be happy for every single Norwegian on the planet (after this win).
“We’ve won 12 competitive games in a row now. I’m part of something special, making history and I’m extremely proud to be Norwegian.”
Erling Haaland is operating at an astonishing level for Norway, having scored a staggering 59 international goals in just 52 appearances.
