Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has opened up on embracing Islam after deep personal research about the faith

The singer admitted that he was born into a Christian home but found peace in his new belief

His revelation on a US live stream has left fans reflecting on religion, fame, and identity

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his spiritual evolution.

He revealed that he has converted to Islam.

The “Ye” crooner made the revelation while speaking during a Twitch live session with US streamer PlaqueBoyMax, where he shared details about his upbringing and his eventual shift in faith.

Burna Boy, who recently bought his best friend a Lamborghini, disclosed that he was raised in a devout Christian household and followed the faith because his parents were strong believers

However, as he grew older and began exploring life on his own terms, he developed a curiosity about religion that led him on a journey of discovery.

“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents practiced. But as I got older, I started to research more about life and faith. That was when I found Islam.”

The singer said he didn’t stumble into the decision out of rebellion but from genuine conviction.

He added: “It was something that came naturally to me. I just felt a connection and peace”

Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has warned her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, stating that she is capable of revealing more about him.

Naija News reports that this comes just hours after Regina earlier cried out online, claiming that her siblings had been arrested and she was being forced to return to rehab.

In a post via her Instagram page, Regina accused Ned Nwoko of using police officers to beat up her brother like a criminal

According to the thespian, Ned has power, connection, and money, but it will be wild for him to think that she has none.

She wrote, “Imagine the Nigerian police beating up my brother like a criminal. What exactly was the violent arrest for? Ned, you have power, connections and money right? Wild for you to think I have none.

“What I wouldn’t want to do to you is let the man I once saw as an iroko fall before everyone because you bloody know your little girl Gina is capable of that!”

Regina Daniels further expressed deep frustration about the state of things, especially concerning her children

She added, “I just hate this feeling of wishing my boys’ father’s name remains a legacy. You know why? Boys don’t grow to change their surnames.”

Veteran Kannywood Actor, Malam Nata’ala Is Dead

The Hausa-film industry has been struck by fresh sorrow with the passing of renowned actor Malam Nata’ala (also known as Mata Na Mato), a native of Potiskum, Yobe State.

Reports are that the veteran actor died after a long-standing illness. Naija News reports that Malam Nata’ala rose to prominence for his role as an almajiri-school teacher in the popular Arewa24 drama series Dadin Kowa.

Before his death, he had publicly appealed for help, posting online that he was battling a serious health condition and seeking financial assistance for medical bills.

In August 2025, Malam Nata’ala disclosed his struggle with cancer, revealing the grim reality of his health and his plea for both prayers and financial support:

“I am battling a serious illness… I need your prayers and cooperation, including financial help,” Nata’ala had appealed.

At the time, he indicated that every three weeks, he was spending approximately ₦250,000 on injections, not including medication or hospital bed costs.

His social media posts notably garnered international attention when the President of Niger, Abdourahamane Tchiani, stepped in and donated ₦27 million to support his treatment.

Malam Nata’ala, born Mata Yakubu in Potiskum, Yobe State, became widely loved for his portrayals of humble teachers and community figures. His role in the series “Dadin Kowa” cemented his status as a household name in Northern Nigeria.

Friends and colleagues remember him not only for his talent but for his humility and willingness to engage with his fans.

Naija News reports that Nata’ala’s public call for help revealed a rare vulnerability in an industry where many actor health stories remain hidden, sparking renewed discussion about welfare and support for film practitioners.

Peju Ogunmola Breaks Silence After Losing Her Only Son

Veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has spoken for the first time since the death of her only son, Ayomikun.

Naija News reports that the actress and her husband, veteran actor Sunday Omobolanle, popularly known as Papi Luwe, lost Ayomikun,

After the unfortunate incident, there were speculations about the cause of the youngster’s death.

However, the family’s spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, released a statement clarifying that Ayomikun died after a brief illness in Ibadan and had since been buried.

Amodu said contrary to the claims spreading on social media, Ayomikun did not die from a bathroom accident or any form of domestic mishap.

After weeks of mourning, the thespian took to Instagram to reflect on her healing journey and thanked everyone who supported her through the pain.

She captioned the post, “A new month, a new dawn. The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today I rise, stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again. The screens have missed me… and I’m back, doing what I love most.”

When the news of her son’s death broke, several Nollywood stars, including Dele Odule, Ronke Odusanya, Fausat Balogun, Bimbo Oshin, Ebun Oloyede, Olaiya Igwe and Fali Werepe, visited the couple’s Ibadan home to commiserate with them.

Peju, daughter of the late theatre legend Kola Ogunmola, said she is ready to return to acting.
